A SHOPPING MALL IN BARIK

When it rises
it will stand like a large tomb
A monstrous mausoleum
with shoulders stretched
long enough to hang in shame
on its walls, alphabets will assemble
into the names of the people
who live in the bitter embrace of
Betrayals, whose lives are spent
in waiting (waiting to discover if it is
possible for an empire to love)
the black banners of mourning
shall hang across its rooms
from large pillars- the memorial
for tall trees sentenced to be
executed, their concrete arms
will hold a ceiling that shall echo
all sounds of protest
all sounds of heartache
all sounds of suffering
on the entrance there shall be a
sign that reads, ‘Welcome to the
House of sorrow’. Someone will
be greeting you at the door, invite you in
with the words,
Come cry for the city you lost.
Everywhere the songs of funeral bells
shall tear wounds on the flesh of dreams
but dreams always linger in the atmosphere
with the immortality of dust.
